Daniel at Sight & Sound

Travel with us to Pennsylvania in 2024 and experience “Daniel” at Sight and Sound Theatre. If you saw Daniel in Lancaster in 2002, you will witness a totally new production. Of course, the story is the same, but the music, costumes, script, and technology are totally different. Come join us as we follow Daniel, facing pressure and unbelievable danger to conform to the ways of the Babylonians. And celebrate with Daniel as he stands faithful, true, and loyal to God. A story from the Old Testament comes to life in front of your eyes as you watch, listen, and learn because God is still speaking to us today.

Each of the trips we have planned is slightly different, offering familiar Lancaster favorites as well as new experiences for travelers who have been to Sight & Sound Theatre many times.

Here are the Highlights of the three trips:

Daniel 1 – May 6 – 8, 2024

Monday, May 6th – Spring is in the air. The grass is green. The flowers are blooming. It’s a great time of year to hit the road and enjoy God’s beautiful world. This morning we will make our way north to Lancaster, Pennsylvania. This area of the state is home to a wide variety of both Amish and Mennonite groups. Daniel at Sight & SoundThis afternoon, we will start our adventure by touring the Mennonite Life Visitors Center and learning about this religious-cultural group. Established in the 16th century during the Protestant Reformation, it is a faith-stream within Christianity. Unlike the Amish, however, you will see some Mennonite groups that want to preserve their historical character while other groups enjoy being involved with society. This will be a wonderful learning experience for us. Afterwards we will tour a biblical tabernacle reproduction that is a full-size model of Moses’ Tabernacle in the Wilderness. You’ll learn more about the history, construction, and spiritual significance of this symbolic dwelling place of God.Daniel at Sight & Sound It is amazing to see! Then it’s off to the beautiful Eden Resort where we will spend two nights. After a delicious dinner at the hotel, you can spend the remainder of the evening swimming, playing shuffleboard or just exploring our resort. (D)

Tuesday, May 7th – This morning we will drive into the countryside to enjoy the most mouth-watering warm pretzel you’ve ever eaten! Everyone gets one of these large, delicious pretzels. You’ll also have a little time to browse the roadside stand just filled with Amish goodies, from quilts to homemade canned and baked goods. It’s a real treat. Then we’re off to take a fascinating tour of the National Watch and Clock Museum which features the largest collection of timepieces in North America. See more than 13,000 watches and clocks from around the world, including a German table clock from approximately 1570. Our guides will share insights into how timekeeping has changed civilization as well as other fun facts and history. From prehistory to space-age, this highly popular tour is interesting and as close as you can come to “time travel”. Daniel at Sight & SoundThen it’s time for lunch so we’ll turn our coach toward Kitchen Kettle Village where you can enjoy anything from a burger to soup and salad or just an ice cream cone as you enjoy the surroundings of the village. They also have a huge jam and jelly store that everyone seems to enjoy visiting. After lunch we’ll learn how to make a specialty of Lancaster County: the whoopie pie. This favorite Pennsylvania Dutch dessert gets its name from the squeal of delight that folks made when they took their first bite – “whoopie!”

Daniel at Sight & SoundNext, it’s off to Sight and Sound Theatre to enjoy the much-anticipated new production of Daniel. Taken from his people, he is exiled in the powerful kingdom of Babylon and must learn to navigate his new life inside a palace filled with golden statues and shifting empires. As pressures mount, Daniel is faced with a dangerous choice. Will his trust in God remain steadfast through every test of faith? From the fiery furnace to the den of lions, you’ll witness one of the Bible’s most hope-filled stories. What a wonderful and touching experience this will be!
