Travel Insurance

Travel protection insurance is no longer included in the price of our motor coach trips.

During the pandemic, the travel insurance industry made some major changes to their business and policies. It has forced us to end our practice of including travel protection insurance in the price of our trips.

UPDATE – October 1, 2021 – We can no longer obtain group pricing for travel protection insurance on our motor coach trips. This includes the policies we were able to obtain earlier this year. For years, we have been able to obtain protection for our travelers based solely on the cost of the trip. That “one-price-fits-all” coverage has ended for us. Instead, travel protection insurance premiums are dependent on the age of the traveler. As you might expect, there is a considerable range in those premiums – and they increase with age. Because of that, we cannot automatically include travel protection insurance in the price of a trip. Each traveler will have an insurance cost unique to them, and we will be able to quote the price for that coverage on any trip. Everyone will need to evaluate the cost and the benefit when making the decision to purchase insurance.

We have, however, located a way for you to quickly gather and compare prices from some of the best companies in the business through TravelInsurance.com. Click on the banner below, enter the information for your trip, and find companies and polices to fit your needs.

Coverage for pre-existing conditions.

Most companies now require that you purchase travel protection coverage as soon as you make any payment toward a trip if you wish to have coverage for pre-existing conditions. In our case, that would require our travelers to purchase non-refundable insurance when making a refundable deposit. Because we do not think this is a reasonable arrangement for our travelers, we have decided to discontinue our practice of taking deposits. The decision to purchase insurance will be made on the date you pay for the trip – just as it has been in the past.

Without deposits, we will be relying solely upon you to keep us informed if your plans change. It will be critical that you contact us as soon as possible if you can no longer take a trip you have booked.

Other travel protection options.

We have also discovered that credit cards may be an attractive solution. Some cards have very comprehensive travel protection as a benefit. Others offer less but it may be enough to make you feel comfortable. Here are a few of the links we’ve discovered that compare and explain the benefits offered by credit cards. (Posted 3/17/2021)

We have not lost sight of the importance of travel protection insurance. Even with careful planning, there is always the possibility that something will go wrong before or during a trip. Travel insurance can reimburse you for some of those costs. We are continuing to search for the best available option for travel protection insurance and we will be here to help you with any aspect of the process.

It will be a learning curve for all of us, but we are here to help.
